ABOUT OUR DOJO, YOGA & ART STUDIO

BIOMA- Baltimore Institute of Martial Arts is dedicated to the study of martial arts and the promotion of the fine arts through a variety of diverse programs. Programs include training in traditional disciplines as well as competitive and modern combatives.

BIOMA also offers youth programs after school that will reinforce STEAM concepts, teach anti-bullying strategies, promote fitness and self-defense skills.

 

BIOMA also recognizes the relationship between martial arts and fine art, and its role in the cultivation of expression, character, and spirit. This relationship has remained strong throughout history in many cultures. To this end classes in both Yoga and Art are available


BIOMA offers the finest instruction with dedicated, experienced, and professional staff.

Ebon Phoenix

Owner & Senior Instructor

Ebon Phoenix has studied martial arts for 40 years. He has rank in aikido, jujitsu, iaido, and karate and participated in various striking and grappling competitions over the years. As senior instructor he oversees all martial  instruction, teaches classes, and gives demonstrations and seminars. He is also a ceritfied teacher of 30 years and a professional musician.

Owner, Yoga & Art Instructor

Niela Magwood-Phoenix

Niela Magwood-Phoenix heads up visual art and yoga instruction for BIOMA. She holds a Master in Business Management, Yoga 500 RYT and oversees BIOMA operations. She has over 20 plus years of business experience, is a visual artist and a professional musician.

Jesse Williamson

Instructor

Jesse Williamson has studied martial arts for 30 years. He has rank in aikido, jujitsu, iaido, and karate. As a senior instructor he teaches classes and gives demonstrations. He is also a ceritified teacher of 30 years and a professional musician.

Eric Atkinson

Instructor

Eric Atkinson has studied martial arts for over 30 years. He is a combat veteran, and was a competitive boxer while in the Marines. He has rank in aikido, jujitsu, escrido and studies BJJ. Eric teaches aikido and escrido and gives demonstrations and seminars.

Emery Kim

Instructor

Emery Kim has studied Aikido over 40 years. He is ranked 3rd Dan in Aikido. He has studied across the world with many great sensei, Shinichi Suzuki to name one. Emery also focuses on Ki training and its application in daily life.

Jinenkan offers instruction in taijutsu (unarmed fighting skills), bikenjutsu (sword arts), yari (spear), naginata (halberd), tessen (iron fan), jutte (truncheon), kusari-fundo (weighted chain), tanto (knife), bo, hanbo, jo (staff arts), and more.
