  • Do I have to register my hands when I become a black belt?
    No, that is an urban myth. Martial Artists are not required to register their hands.
  • Do I have to be in good shape before I start?
    No, you will get into shape as you train. We have a series of exercises that you will learn as you progress through the ranking system which will enable you to perform the self defense techniques.
  • I am 31 years old, am I too old to start martial arts?"
    No, you are not too old to begin martial arts training. Martial arts like Aikido regularly have students who start from adolecense through their 50's and older.
  • What is the difference between Judo and Aikido?
    Both are forms of jujitsu and budo, but in aikido there is no competition as in judo.
  • I am very busy with my work schedule, how much time do I need to devote to martial arts classes?"
    Two 1 hour classes are week are recommended, as is practicing at home. As you progress through the ranks if you want more 1:1 attention we offer 45 minute private lessons which can further help hone your skills. Please contact us to make an appointment.
  • In what disciplines can I get rank?
    Aikido, Jujitsu, Karate, Iaido and the BIOMA Method.
  • What sort of things should I consider when choosing a school?
    Qualifications and Instructor experieince are important elements to consider when choosing a Dojo. BIOMA instructors have a combined 100 plus years of martial arts experieince in various disciplines. Additionally, two of the Instructors are certified teachers with over 50 years teaching experieince.
  • Can I rent out the space for private events?
    Yes, Please contact us directly to discuss. It is a case by case basis.
  • Can I expect any new programs in the near future?
    Yes, BIOMA will be offering additional programing in the future and is always modifying offerings.
